LA28 Locks In Ticket Presale Dates and Opens Games-Time Volunteer Drive

Share:

Exactly two years before the Olympic cauldron is lit in Los Angeles, LA28 has fired the starting gun on the two programmes fans have been waiting for: tickets and volunteering. The organising committee confirmed that the Visa Presale draw will run from July 29 to 31, with a second ticket draw, Drop 2, following from August 10 to 20, while applications for Games-time volunteers open on July 14, two years to the day before the opening ceremony on July 14, 2028.

How the Ticket Draws Work

Registration for both the Visa Presale and the Drop 2 draw is already open on the official platform. As with earlier phases, fans register for a randomised draw rather than queueing for inventory, with successful applicants receiving purchase windows for sessions across the Olympic programme. Organisers have signalled that demand for marquee sessions, athletics finals, swimming finals and the ceremonies, already far outstrips supply, echoing the pattern first flagged when the countdown phase began earlier this month.

The Role of a Lifetime

The volunteer programme is equally central to the Games’ delivery. LA28 is recruiting tens of thousands of Games-time volunteers across venues, transport hubs and athlete services, pitching it as the role of a lifetime for Angelenos and visitors alike. The organisation itself is scaling at pace, having grown from 120 staff to more than 700 under chief executive Reynold Hoover, with plans to reach 5,000 by the time the Games arrive.

A City Getting Down to Business

The announcements cap a productive stretch for organisers, who recently concluded a long-negotiated agreement with the Los Angeles City Council covering extraordinary public services for the Games, from traffic management and security to sanitation. Venue milestones continue to accumulate too, most visibly the new cricket stadium rising at Pomona for the sport’s Olympic return.

Two years out, the shape of the first Los Angeles Games since 1984 is coming into focus: privately funded, spread across existing world-class venues and, on the evidence of the ticket registration numbers, set to be the most in-demand Olympics ever staged in the United States. For fans, the advice from organisers is simple. Register now, mark July 29 in the calendar, and be ready when the draw opens. The road to LA28 is no longer an abstraction. It has dates.
